Wendell Navanick, Sr., age 76, of Yellowstone Subdivision, passed away October 1, 2020, at his home.
He was born August 12, 1944, in Ft. Duchesne, to Virgil Navanick, Sr. and Genevieve Williams Navanick Alhandra. He married Cheron Grant on March 26, 1975, in Ft. Duchesne.
Wendell worked as a long haul truck driver, a Police Officer for the Ute Tribe, director of special projects, a carpenter, and various other jobs – he really was a man of many trades. He had been councilman on the Ute Tribe Business Committee and was a tribal politician. He had been a Sundancer, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gambling. He loved his animals.
Wendell is survived by his wife, Cheron, of Yellowstone Subdivision; children, Lori Ann, Salt Lake City; Wendy Kim, Myton; Chasity, Roosevelt; Ty (Delloy Arrowchis), Indian Bench; Brandy (Matt Tracey), Roosevelt; Joe (Sylvia Sandoval), Oklahoma; Wendellena, Roosevelt; Ace, Phoenix; Wendell Jr., Vernal; Isaac (Sarah), Eagle Mountain; Tonya, Rangely; Misty, Roosevelt; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy LaRose, Yolanda Nunez, and Paulette Navanick; numerous nieces and nephews, and his animals, “Lola,” “Monkey,” “Rosie,” “Chico,” “Blue,” and “Tiny.”
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kira Ignacio; his parents; siblings, Ernest Navanick, Mary Louise Lopez, Barbara Nephi, Michael Lee Navanick, Pat Navanick, Miranda Navanick, Ronald Navanick, nephews, Carl Navanick, Mario Tom; Juan Appawoo, Dennis Navanick, Monte Horrocks, brother-in-law, Darrell LaRose; father-in-law, Anthony Lavadour; and son-in-law, Matthew James.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Wendell’s residence, 1750 N 5650 E, Yellowstone Subdivision. He will be taken to his residence on Monday at 4:00 p.m. for his wake.
