Kim Ball Holtz passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Tabiona, Utah on October 25, 2026.
He was born in Salt Lake City Utah on June 3,1951, to James Holtz and Darlene Ball Holtz. He married Peggy Smith on May 16, 1991, in Reno, Nevada.
Kim gave himself the nickname Buck when his first-grade teacher asked him what his middle initial stood for and he was embarrassed and didn't want to tell her it was Ball.
He suffered early in life with the murder of his Uncle Mike Holtz (18) and the death of the brother and best friend Scott Wynn Holtz (21).
Kim loved sports early on and played basketball, baseball, softball, and enjoyed golfing, bowling and throwing horseshoes! He was above average in all despite being born with spinal deficiencies. He also had a love for anything hunting, fishing and horseback riding
He started his career with the Union Pacific Railroad at age 18 and had to take medical retirement after 30 years of work. He was loved and respected by all his coworkers.
Kim will always be remembered for being the "Leader;" often making plans with his friends to go camping, rafting, going to see the Salt Lake City Gulls, parties and many other activities. His greatest gift was his love of people and how many people loved him. He earned many friends over his life because of his unselfish and unconditional love for people. He often made new friends everywhere he went.
Kim is survived by his wife Peggy Holtz; brothers, Steve Holtz, Shane (Brittany) Holtz; sister, Cindy (Forest) Kirby, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all that helped with Buck's care. Special people like Doug Bradley, John Bailey, Rick Hopkins, Whitey, Zack Westerman, Travis Bailey and several others.
Per his wishes, he was cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
