Reed Clayburn

Forest Reed Clayburn, age 90, of Bridgeland, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died on November 15, 2019.
Reed was the son of John Reese and Amy Hancock Clayburn, born in their home in Midview on March 17, 1929.  He was the youngest of 8 children.
He grew up in Bridgeland and graduated from Roosevelt High School.  Reed married his sweetheart, JoyLeen Potts, on June 5, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They were blessed with 4 children.  He was a devoted husband and father.  The most important thing in his life was his family.
Reed worked for the Indian Interior for 35 years.  After his retirement, he became a full time farmer.  He loved tending the soil, nurturing the crops, and raising livestock.  Next to his family, he was happiest spending time as a farmer.  He found an appreciation for hard work and a love for sunshine.
Reed was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Over the years he was called to serve in numerous leadership capacities: a counselor in two bishoprics, priesthood, Sunday School Superintendent, Young Men President, and an ordinance worker in the Vernal Temple.  He was a devoted home teacher and ministering brother.  He was kind hearted, compassionate, and had a good sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joy, and their 4 children, Amy (Redge) Palmer, Gary (Debra) Clayburn, Ann (Roger) Chapman, and Cherie (Len) Frandsen; 17 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his 7 siblings, his in-laws, Percy and Novella Potts, whom he loved and respected, and a grandson, Dee Clayburn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Bridgeland Ward Chapel.  A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Bridgeland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Reed’s name to Primary Children’s Medical Center or the Moran Eye Center.
As a family, we thank our friends and neighbors during this time, especially our Home Health and Hospice friends.
