Lena Ellen “Little Lena” Cotonuts, age 35, of Vernal, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Ashley Valley Regional Medical Center.
Lena was born September 6, 1984 in Roosevelt to Arick Lee and SueAnn Cuch Cotonuts.
Lena was truly a miracle, when she was 10 months old she was in a car crash which disabled her. The doctors said she wouldn’t make it and we are glad to say that we had 34 more years to share with Lena.
She loved to be sung to and have people visit. When she was small, she was able to part of a visit to the state legislature and help make it possible for Little Blossom’s, an early intervention program for children, to be set up on west side of Uintah County. The facility has helped numerous children and their families through the years.
She is survived by her mother, SueAnn Cotonuts, step-father, Jubenal Esquibel, siblings Arick Cotonuts, Rebecca & Shannon Gardner; nieces, Pepper, Maria, & Nehemiah Alanis, grandmother, Ina Jean Cuch; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arick Cotonuts; sister, Arica Cotonuts; and her grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Whiterocks. A wake will be held after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at SueAnn Cotonuts home in Ft. Duchesne. Final view will be at the home.
Burial in the Washington Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Uintah Care Center for their loving care and help with Lena for many years.
