Jean Kettle

Alberta Jean Price Kettle, age 89, of Randlett, died on July 17, 2020 at her home with family by her side.
Jean was born on March 21, 1931, in Anaconda, Montana, to Franklin Rawlings and Mary Elizabeth Parks Price.  She later met and married Dick E Kettle on January 16, 1967, in Vernal, Utah.  Together they raised eight children on their ranch in Randlett.
Jean was known as “Ma Kettle” and introduced herself to people as “Mean Jean,” but they soon learned that she had a big heart. Jean liked to pull practical jokes on her family and enjoyed writing poetry. She liked to feed anyone that came for a visit and people would drop in for good food.
Jean loved her family and they were her whole world. Her grandchildren lovingly called her “Grandma Ice Cream” and knew who they could get it from.  She will be greatly missed by her family and will be remembered as a wonderful and stubborn woman, and as an excellent wife to Dick.
Jean is survived by her husband, Dick, her children, Maria Campbell, Esther (Stan) Knight, Daniel Guthrie, Joseph (Fran) Guthrie, Ellen (Joe) Zurcher, Debbie (Eddie Martinez) Ponton, and Ben (Rita) Kettle; daughter-in-law, Nikki Kettle; 25 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many adopted individuals and families, including the Alan and Kathy Cooper family, and the Jay and Suzeanne Barfuss family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Elmer and Inez Kettle, siblings, Ray Price and Janice Kelly, a son, James Kettle, sons-in-law, John Campbell and James Ponton, and granddaughter, Courtney Kettle.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 20, 2020, at 10:00 AM at the Avalon Cemetery, under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
