The funeral services will be live streamed and can be viewed here
Heidi Ann Clerico Long, age 66, of Lapoint, Utah passed away at her home on April 8, 2021 after a brief, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Heidi was born April 2, 1955, in Sandy, Utah to Arnold and Reba Baker Clerico.  She was the second of three children.  She moved from Sandy to Lapoint when she was 9 years old and began her farm life.  Every morning, she and her sister, Dusty, would wake up by 4 a.m. and tend to the family’s animals, and then that was the first thing they did when they got home from school.  She even learned to drive on the family’s 1969 Chevrolet one-ton cattle truck.  She graduated from Uintah High School in 1973.
Heidi was introduced to the love of her life, Danny Long, by her sister, Dusty.  After they started dating, Danny would disappear on the weekends.  One day Heidi asked Danny what he was doing on weekends without her; he replied “fishing” and she said “I like fishing too” and from then on, they spent their weekends together, fishing.  They were married on October 13, 1973 in Lapoint.  They lived in Ogden while Danny finished college, before returning home to Lapoint permanently.  They had their first child, a daughter, Amy Jo, on April 23, 1974, but she passed away immediately after birth.  Even through the grief and sadness of losing a child, they had five more children; four sons and a daughter.
Heidi loved spending time outside gardening and tending to her flowers.  Every year she would plant a large garden for all the family to enjoy.  She always had plenty of help when it came time to pick and can the fruits and vegetables.  She enjoyed cooking large family meals, especially during the holidays.  She also enjoyed making quilts and blankets for her children and grandchildren, and passing down her knowledge to them.
Heidi loved spending time outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, boating, and riding ATVs with her family.  Most family vacations were spent visiting the National Parks.  Almost every weekend during the Spring and Summer was spent with family at Flaming Gorge, Red Fleet, Starvation, or Ice Cave Peak and Paradise Park.
Heidi’s greatest joy was watching and supporting her children and 10 grandchildren participate in basically every sport: football, basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, volleyball, soccer, hockey, and gymnastics from youth leagues, high school, and through college.  She was the ultimate sport’s mom and grandma, attending every event possible, cheering loudly, and only getting on the referees when necessary.  She also loved attending major league baseball games, including Spring Training in Arizona and Florida.
Heidi’s smile and beaming personality will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Heidi is survived by her husband, Danny; her children, Danny Jr. (Elissa) of Lapoint, UT; Eli (Carrie) of Washington Terrace, UT; John “Andy” (Brooke) of Erie, CO; Lori of Lapoint, UT; and Adam (Melissa) of Kearney, NE; her grandchildren, Anthony, Brandon, Alexander, Ataya, Amy, Audrey, Gabriella, TaiLee, Austin, and Emily; her sister, Delores “Dusty” (Mark) Deardorff of Lapoint, UT; her brother, Kent (Karen) Clerico of Red Wing, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Heidi was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Jo; her parents, Arnold & Reba; grandparents, aunts and uncles.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Good Shepherd Home Care and Hospice for the care they gave her, and Dr. Norman and Mary Nielson for all the blessings and comfort they provided during this time of need.
