Freda Davies

Freda Beal Davies, age 91, of Duchesne, peacefully returned to the arms of her heavenly parents and eternal companion on March 29, 2020 in Payson, Utah.
Freda was born May 7, 1928, in Antelope (Bridgeland), Utah, at the home of her parents, Jesse Raynal and Araminna Wilkerson Beal.  She was the third daughter in the family of seven children.  Freda had a happy childhood growing up in Bridgeland.  Though she lived during the great depression, food, chores, and love were never in short supply.  She attended school in Duchesne, Myton, Francis, and Salt Lake City. She graduated with honors from Duchesne High School in 1946.
Freda married John R Davies on September 25, 1948.  Together they made their home a few miles north of Duchesne.  Their lives were blessed with three daughters; Claudia, Pamela and Serena, and two sons; Dwayne and Ronald.  She worked hard doing all the necessary farm/ranch chores when John R was working away from home.  She could milk cows, irrigate the fields with a shovel in hand, cut and bale the hay, care for the farm animals, raise a large vegetable garden and still manage her household and family duties as a wife and as a mother of five children.
Freda enjoyed gardening (which included many long rows of vegetables and flowers), canning, sewing, reading, painting ceramics, quilting and watching her favorite TV shows.  She made dozens and dozens of quilts for family members, friends, and humanitarian efforts.  She was a wonderful cook and was known by many for her delicious homemade donuts, cinnamon rolls and dilly beans.  She and her older sister, Lola, operated a successful wedding catering and decorating business for over ten years. She loved the beauty of nature, the beauty of people, and decorating or making beautiful items for others.
Freda was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life.  She had a firm testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, the Prophet Joseph Smith and the holy scriptures, particularly, the Book of Mormon.  Primary, Relief Society, and genealogy work were among the many church callings she enjoyed.  Her favorite church service was as an ordinance worker in the Provo, Utah Temple and serving in the Vernal, Utah Temple with her husband, John R.
Freda was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.  She was an adventurous soul who was willing to try new ideas. She wasn’t afraid of hard work or afraid to speak her mind. She was also kind, forgiving and generous, doing whatever was needed for others.  Her motto was: “If you’re going to do something, do it right”.  Her goal in life was to be a good influence in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Pamela (Rex) Harrison, Orem; Serena (Brad) Taylor, Duchesne; Dwayne (Margaret) Davies, Duchesne; Ronald (Karin) Davies, Spanish Fork; 22 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John R; beloved daughter, Claudia Rae Carey; parents, Jesse and Araminna Beal; brothers, Darl, Lawrence, Thomas, and Steve Beal; sisters, Lola Hamilton, and Dorotha Long.
Due to current health restrictions regarding COVID-19, there will be no viewing or funeral. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity.  Only her children and their spouses will be attending Freda’s burial at the Duchesne Cemetery.  A celebration of her life will be held later in the year as health conditions improve for family and friend gatherings.
