Clarinda May Jenks, age 63, of Ouray, died on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the University of Utah Hospital.
Clarinda was born on February 16, 1957, in Cortez, Colorado, to Phillip Nick and Clarice Marion Cuch Lopez. She married Reggie Lopez Jenks, Sr. on October 2, 1980, in Vernal, Utah.
Clarinda’s life revolved around her family as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to take care of her family and be with them, especially her grandchildren. She would do anything they asked as long as they were spending time together. During the spring and summer, she would load them up in the car and hit bear dances and powwows. She enjoyed baking with her grandchildren, going to the movies with them, and teaching them their Ute culture and traditional ways. She was an avid supporter of their sporting events and academics.
Clarinda always made use of the day and the time that she had. She was a talented bead worker and seamstress and was often asked to showcase her work. She was a strong believer in the Native American Church and in her traditional ways. She was also a traditional Sundancer. She loved her dogs, Mr. Pickles and Tubs; and her cat, Buttercup. Clarinda was a dedicated wife, and after 40 years of marriage, she and Reggie Sr. could often be found joking and laughing together. Any situation that they found themselves in they were in it together and made the best of it. They also enjoyed going on rides in the mountains.
Clarinda is survived by her husband, Reggie, Sr., her children, Reggie (Amanda) Jenks, Jr., and Maria Jenks; grandchildren, Acailles Mary Jenks, Seldon Roger Jenks, Remeese Marion Jenks, Rylan Burson, and Ryan Burson, Jr., and; grandmother, Madge Bagley, and relative, Isabelle Arrive.
