Yvonne Edythe Stewart Bird, age 92, returned home to her Heavenly Father on October 7, 2025.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Curtis Grant Stewart and Roberta Roberson Stewart on March  1, 1933.
Yvonne was the second of six children. When she was 10, her parents divorced. Later her father married Afton Buchanan and added three more children to the family.
On December 10, 1955, Yvonne met Paul Bird on a blind date. Two months and one day later they were married on February 11, 1956. Ten months later their first child and only girl, Debbie, was born. Over the next twenty years they had five more children, all boys: David, Daniel, Bennie, Tony, and Duane. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 8, 1961.
Yvonne loved to teach 4-H sewing, raise a garden, camp, the Rendezvous at Ft. Bridger, Wyoming, sew, and make quilts. During the last ten years of her life, she and Paul made and gave away more than 200 tied quilts to friends. This didn’t include the many, many quilts they made for their family. She also made many Temple quilts and quilts that were quilted with yarn.
Yvonne loved the gospel and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including Relief Society President twice, Primary, Young Womens, and Sunday School. She taught many classes and was chorister for most of the organizations. She and Paul served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: one to the South Africa Durban Mission and one to the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission.
Yvonne was completely selfless. She sacrificed her time and resources over and over again to serve her family, friends and Ward members.
Yvonne’s family would like to thank the nurses and care-takers of Canyon Home Health and Hospice for the kindness shown her over the past few weeks.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronald, sister, Gloria, step-sister, Ruth, and step-brother, Ronald.
Yvonne is survived by her husband of 69 years, Paul, her six children, Debbie (Jerry) Foote, Ioka; David Bird, Magna; Daniel (Naomi) Bird, Bluebell; Bennie (Shari) Bird, Tooele; Tony Bird, Bluebell, and Duane Bird, Bluebell; 18 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren;  4 great great grandchildren (plus 2 on the way); her brothers, Elwood and Melvin; sister, Saundra; and many nieces and nephews
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 11, 2025, in the Altamont Stake Center, Altamont, Utah, at 11:00 AM.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 - 10:45 AM prior to the service.
Burial was in the Bluebell Cemetery.
