Wilda Mae Thomas Stevenson, age 84, of Altamont, passed away peacefully October 20, 2025, at her home surrounded by her children.

She was born June 5, 1941, to Harold “Sharky” Jones Thomas and Ada Lavern Rasmussen. She married the love of her life, John Stevenson, on August 15, 1965, in Wells, Nevada. He died March 5, 2010. After their marriage, the couple traveled for several years following construction work before settling in Altamont, where they raised their three children.

A proud graduate of Duchesne High School, Wilda built a life full of meaningful friendships and deep community ties. She worked as a cook at Oman’s Dairy Freeze for 42 years, where her warm personality and dedication made her a beloved part of the community. Known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, she made friends wherever she went.

Wilda had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting with her family. She tended to a beautiful garden every year, always making sure to grow pumpkins for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also cherished her morning coffee gatherings with her dear “coffee-ers,” a tradition that brought her joy and laughter until the very end.

A devoted Utah Jazz fan, Wilda rarely missed a game. But above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Wilda is survived by her children: Chad (Gina) Stevenson of Altonah; Kevin Stevenson of Wildamar, California; Cindy Roll of Boneta; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Karol Taylor of Duchesne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stevenson; her parents; her sister, Norma Wilson; and her daughter-in-law, Vicki Stevenson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Altamont Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Viewings will be held at the church on Sunday evening from 5:00–7:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00–10:45 a.m.

Burial will be at the Mountain Home–Boneta Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and support shown during this time. Wilda's legacy of laughter, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
