The funeral will be live-streamed and can be viewed here.

Vernon J Baum, age 71, of Fruitland, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 10, 2021, at his home.
He was born January 14, 1950, in Heber, to Mary Valina Pace and Ray J Baum. He
married his highschool sweetheart, Sheila Ellen Miller on January 31, 1970, in the Duchesne chapel.  They were sealed in the Jordan River Temple on January 29, 1983, with their three sons alongside them. They recently celebrated their 51st anniversary.
Vernon was known for his large hands and huge heart. He spent his life in the service of others, always helping neighbors with projects, plowing snow for widows, or building a porch for Sheila that will withstand a hurricane.  He attended Duchesne High School where he excelled at wrestling.
His wife Sheila and his three boys were his greatest pride and joy. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Operators Union for 46 years and touched many lives on projects spanning three states, on the job he was known for his super human strength and being a practical joker. He loved to tease but never out of spite always out of love.
Like most Baums, he loved Chevy’s – especially his 1972 truck “Pearl”. He loved camping, fishing, farming, and spending time with his grandkids.  They could always count on him to give them a handful of bubble gum before leaving his house and then he would follow them out to the car and watch them leave from the porch, no matter the weather.
Vernon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints. He served in many callings most recently as a counselor in the branch presidency. He hated to be the center of attention and Sheila was sure he would have sweat pouring down his face when he conducted so she knitted him a CTR sweat band, he never wore it but we’re sure he appreciated her loving gesture. He was an example to all on how to live a Christ-like life, especially his ability to love unconditionally. He rarely spoke unkindly of others and always chose to see the good in people.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Sheila; son, Russell (Rachelle), of Vernal; son, Dan (Marie), of Heber; son, Buddy (Lisa) of Fruitland; 13 grandchildren,
He was preceded in death by parents Ray and Mary Baum, brothers, Bob and Paul, sister, Elaine Adams, and brother-in-law, Jack Adams.
