Shirley “Shirl” Van Whitehead Larsen, passed away May 15, 2024 at her home in Ft Mohave Arizona with her husband Jack Larsen of 38 years by her side.
She was born on September 16, 1943 in Oregon to Ed and Afton Van.
Shirley married Larry Whitehead in 1959 and he later passed in 1983 they had 4 children;
Laura, Lonnie, William “ Billy” and Robert. She later married Jack Larsen on July 4, 1985.
Shirley was known for her delicious pies, crocheting beautiful afghans, and beading jewelry with her best friend Gene Morris “Tiny” (more laughing then beading).
Shirley “Shirl” loved camping and fishing and listening to Jack playing his musical instruments, while sitting around the campfire at her favorite place, Moon Lake and Twin Ponds in Uintah Basin Utah. She loved baking pies, making Christmas candy, and planting flowers. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a fantastic cook, so the whole family would gather there for BIG Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Larsen, Ft Mohave Arizona; children, Laura Whitehead Chuck) Hellman, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Robert Whitehead, North Jordan, Utah; step-son, Marty (Theresa ) Larsen, New Harmony, Utah; 15 Grandkids, 21 great grandkids, and 6 great-great grandkids. Her siblings, Lynda (Mike) Ensminger , Blackwell, Texas; Delbert (Ginny) Van ,Taylorsville, Utah; Delmar (Pat) Van, Taylorsville, Utah; Robert (Melinda) Van, Bountiful, Utah; John (Cindy) Van, Colorado; Gary (Ruby) Van, Ft Mohave, Arizona.
She is preceded in death of her parents, Ed and Afton Van, siblings, Sonny Van, Betty LaRae Van, Mary Van, Terry Van Sorenson, and her sons, Lonnie Whitehead, and William Whitehead, great granddaughter, Jakoya Whitehead Kimball, her step-son's, Corey Larsen, Darrell Larsen, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
At Shirley's request their will be no services.
