Shirlene Skinner Jensen, 76, of Talmage, Utah, was called home to her Heavenly Father on May 8, 2025, in Roosevelt, Utah.
Shirlene was born on June 11, 1948, in Soda Springs, Idaho, to Ellis Harris Skinner and Shirley Lewis Skinner. She was the oldest of three children and the only daughter. Shirlene graduated from Soda Springs High School in 1966. Following graduation, she attended Ricks College for 2-years and spent a memorable summers working on a dude ranch in Colorado.
From 1969 to 1971, Shirlene served as a missionary in the Gulf States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her mission, she met her lifelong best friend Leola, who later introduced her to her brother Leslie Jensen. Leslie told Shirlene when they met that he always knew Heavenly Father would need to send someone to him to marry because he wasn’t able to go out and find someone. Shirlene and Leslie were married on April 12, 1974, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they built their home in Talmage, Utah, where they raised five children: Nicole, Allison, Travis, Nathan, and Megan.
A devoted member of the Church, Shirlene served faithfully in many callings, including in Scouting, Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society, and as a visiting teacher. Her quiet service and deep testimony touched many lives.

Shirlene was a dedicated stay-at-home mother until her children reached school age. Determined to support her family when Leslie could no longer work, she returned to school and earned her nursing license. She worked as a Home Health nurse for Uintah Basin Home Health, where she cared deeply for her patients. Later, she served as the office receptionist until her retirement. After retiring, she found great joy in caring for her youngest grandson, affectionately known as "Grandma’s little buddy."
Shirlene never met a stranger—she was a compassionate, caring, and genuinely kind-hearted person who made others feel seen and loved. She had a gift for connection, and her warm nature made everyone feel like family.
She loved attending the temple and had a strong, abiding testimony of the gospel.
Family was the heart of her life—she treasured time spent together, whether it was picnics in the mountains, family gatherings, attending school or sporting events for her children or grandchildren, or simple conversations around the table. She often said she never wanted any empty seats at her table.
An exceptional cook and seamstress, Shirlene lovingly made many of her children’s clothes as they grew up. She had a passion for gardening and canning, always ensuring the family had food preserved for the winter. Shirlene enjoyed relaxing with her favorite shows—Family Feud, The Price Is Right, soap operas, Reba, and Fuller House. She also loved doing puzzles, playing games, and most of all, cheering on her children and grandchildren at their events—she was always their biggest supporter.

Shirlene is survived by her children: Nicole, Ceres, CA; Allison (Eugene) Evbuomwan, Travis (Jennifer), and Nathan (Cynthia), all of Roosevelt, UT; and Megan of Talmage, UT. She leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren: Brenleigh, Makynleigh, Zachary, Andrus, Teagen, Jazleigh, Donavan, Abigail, and Zyker. She is also survived by her brother, Kent (Kris) Skinner; sisters-in-law, Leola Jensen, Maxine Skinner, Dena Fellows, Loretta Jensen, and Mindy Jensen; brother-in-law, Dallas (Ilene) Jensen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Jensen; parents, Ellis Harris and Shirley Skinner; in-laws, Joseph Calvin and Lorna Christensen Jensen; brother, Barry Ellis Skinner; nephew, Brandon Skinner; and numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, Betty Rowley, Beverly Stevenson, Roberta Nielson, Luella Fielding, Deon Jensen, Jeanie Jensen, infant girl (Leslie’s twin), Arnold Jensen, Reed Jensen, Lavern Jensen, Robert Jensen, Dean Rowley, Wallace Stevenson, Keith Nielson, Eugene Jensen, and DeMonte Fellows.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Villa for the compassionate care they provided to our beautiful mother. We extend a special thank you to Dana Springer, whose warmth and kindness made the Villa feel like a welcoming place. Dana stayed by Mom’s side in her final moments, offering comfort and doing all she could to help her hold on until family could arrive to say our goodbyes. Her presence and compassion meant the world to us. We are also deeply grateful to the many friends, family members, and ward members who visited and supported Mom in her final months.
