RuthAnn Burton Winterton, “Snowflake”, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on November 11, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Born on January 2, 1946 in Roosevelt, UT, RuthAnn spent the majority of her life in Orem focused on her family and serving her community.
In Talmage, Utah, RuthAnn was raised alongside her nine siblings. She attended Altamont High School, graduating in 1964. She married Hal Smith Winterton in the Salt Lake City Temple, and they had three sons together, Ron Clair Winterton, David Hal Winterton, and Gary Ellis Winterton. RuthAnn and Hal later divorced.
As a lifelong, dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, RuthAnn served in many callings. She served in Young Womens, Relief Society, and Primary, cherishing her time spent serving the youth. Later in life, she was able to fulfill her goal of serving as a senior missionary at Salt Lake Temple Square. This mission was a highlight of her life, and she deeply loved the opportunity to serve.
RuthAnn was a devoted, loving grandmother who always had treats or a fun activity to offer her grandchildren. All of the neighborhood children also lovingly called her “Grandma Ruthie” and loved to visit her.
