Ruth LaRae Allred, age 88, passed away on April 24, 2026, peacefully at home with her loved ones. She was born March 22, 1938, to Charles and Belva Allred of Altamont, Utah.
Ruth and Andrew Allred were married and sealed June 21, 1957, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They moved to Rangely Colorado and raised their three children: Shirley, Luke and Ron.
Ruth worked at Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) and along with Andy owned a cleaning business. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in numerous callings, including dedicated service in the Vernal Utah Temple.
Ruth loved the mountains, whether she was exploring trails on horseback, navigating backcountry roads in the side by side, or spending time hunting, camping and fishing. She worked tirelessly tending her garden. Yet, of all her passions, Ruth’s greatest love was time spent with Andy, her children, family and friends.
Known for her generous heart, Ruth spent her life creating, crafting, and caring for others. She was a passionate quilter and often donated her handmade blankets to those in need. In addition to her charitable nature, she was a self taught musician on the accordion and violin, and loved to dance.
Ruth is survived by her three children: Shirley (Joe) Lansing, of Elk Mountain, WY; Luke (Judy) Allred, of Rangely, CO; and Ron (Desree) Allred, of Vernal, UT; and grandchildren, Crystal Stucker, Angie Allred, Cody Lansing, Alecia Dembowski, Samantha Simone, Casey Allred, and her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Allred, parents, Ralph and Belva Allred, and five siblings and in-laws.
A graveside service will be held at the Bluebell Cemetery in Bluebell, Utah, at 10:30 AM, on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
