Rose Marie Bird, age 95, of Roosevelt, passed away June 13, 2023, at the Uintah Basin Senior Villa.
She was born March 1, 1928, in Provo, Utah, to Arthur Barney and Alice McGuire, but was raised by Alice and her husband, Lawrence Murphy.  She grew up in many places all over the Uintah Basin.  She married Tal Bird, the love of her life, on October 2, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and they moved to the Wasatch Front.  Tal died in 1965, and afterwards, Rose put herself through college to get her teaching degree, while raising her four children.  She then worked as a special education teacher in the Oquirrh Hills Elementary School for many years. After she retired, she served a mission in Atlanta, Georgia.  Later she met and married Marvin Gibson, and they served a mission in Utica, New York.  He later passed away.
Rose was a very independent woman who enjoyed crocheting, counter-cross stitching, and researching family history.  She had a good memory and was a talented writer.  She read her scriptures every day and loved her cats, “Hoot” and “New Daisy.”
Rose is survived by her children, Donald (Jackie) Bird, Christine (Randy) McElhaney, and Althea (Ray) Hardman, 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Rupert (Wanda) Murphy; a sister-in-law, Georgia Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tal and Marvin; a son, Gordon, siblings, Verl Murphy, Delale Murphy, Lorraine McCoy, and Dorothy Richens.
