Ronald Marion Christensen, age 82, of Talmage, passed away November 15, 2023, at the Landmark Assisted Living facility in Vernal.
He was born June 20, 1941, in Roosevelt, to Jesse William and Beatrice Farnsworth Christensen.  He married Karen Rich on September 21, 1963, in Boise, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She died February 8, 2016.
Ron was the second of fourteen children and was raised in Talmage. After high school, Ron moved to Salt Lake City where he worked for a fencing company. This is where he met Karen. After they had been married a few years, they moved their family back to the Upper Country.
Ron worked in the oil industry much of his life, including owning a roustabout business for a short time and working as a gas plant operator.  Much of Ron’s time was spent ranching and farming; which he loved. Ron understood the importance of being involved in his community and enjoyed serving on several different boards over the past 40 years. A few of those included the Duchesne County Soil Conservation, the Snow Survey, the Farnsworth Canal, and the Duchesne County Planning and Zoning Committee. The one he had the most involvement with and the longest tenure, 1990 to present, was the Upper Country Water Improvement District. Ron was instrumental in the initial project and enjoyed his time serving on the board for many years.
When he wasn’t working or farming, he collected guns and knives, tied fly fishing hooks, reloaded bullets, and prospected in the mountains.
Ron took pride in his family. He and Karen enjoyed going on drives in the mountains and loved supporting their children and grandchildren in their extra-curricular activities and hobbies.
Ron is survived by his children, Michelle (Wayne) Miles, Mountain Home; Brad Christensen, Talmage; Raquel (Mike) Labrum, Roosevelt; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Violet (Wayne) Davies, Talmage; Brent (Cindy) Christensen, Coalville; Cheryl (Lynn) Burton, Talmage; Brenda (Roy) Sorensen, Talmage; Doyle (Deena) Christensen, Coalville; Kirk (Denise) Christensen, Talmage; Cindy (Charles) Hansen, Arcadia; Jill (Mickie) Thacker, Midland, Texas; Amy (Charles) Ivie, Talmage; Ellen (Darryl) Sorensen, Talmage; Radonna (Dick) Bess, Talmage; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Christensen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; and two brothers, Bill & Lanny.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain Home Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  There will be a viewing that morning from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church.
