Roger Dennis Larsen passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at the home of his sister Cherrie in Sandy, Utah, just ten days shy of his 90th birthday.
He was born on April 13, 1936, in Roosevelt, Utah to Bernard Brigham “Buzz” Larsen and Mary Viola Brady Larsen. Roger was one of 9 children and treasured the lifelong relationships he shared with his family.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed having his sister Arlene read scriptures to him. He needed this help as he suffered many years with macular degeneration which took many things away from him .
Roger spent much of his life in Roosevelt and Beaver, Utah, where he built his career as a truck driver and worked extensively with irrigation sprinkler systems. He was known as a hardworking and honest man, as well as a skilled mechanic who could fix just about anything. He loved to teach others what he knew. Roger had a deep love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping in the Uintah Mountains, where he would take his trailer to relax in the fresh air and attend the annual Larsen family reunions. These gatherings brought him great joy, allowing him to spend time with his large extended family of siblings, nieces, and nephews.
He will be remembered as a fun-loving, jovial, and kind-hearted, generous man who truly loved people. Roger was easy to talk to and had a way of making others feel welcome and wanted. He had a wonderful memory and delighted in sharing stories from his childhood, often accompanied by his cute signature chuckle.
A constant source of companionship and happiness in Roger’s life was his beloved four-legged friend, Freeway. The two were inseparable, and their bond brought comfort and purpose to each day.
Roger is survived by his children, Mike (Jan) Brown, Chris Chidester, Kelly (Tana) Larsen, and LaNita (Eric) Shells, as well as many grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Marianne Morton; Larraine (Dan) Barrom, Arlene (David) Hatch; Becky (Wayne) Turley; Cherrie (Rick) Carruthers; and Randy Larsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Brigham Larsen and Mary Viola Brady Larsen; his brothers, Lawrence Bernard Larsen and Boyd Cyrus Larsen; his sons, Doug Brown and Greg Chidester; and his former wives, Jolene Robinson, Joyce Hall, and Hazel Parkinson.
Roger lived a full and meaningful life. He was a great man, and it was an honor to know and love him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
