Roderick Lee Groves, age 75, passed away May 23, 2022 at his home in Myton.
    Roderick was born February 27, 1947 in Ft. Duchesne to Harold J and Juanita Arrapoo Groves.  He married Freda Colorow in June of 1986.
    Roderick was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing ball from a young age, participating in sports through his school years and beyond. He also was a coach for many youth through the years and started the first T-ball for children in the Uintah Basin area. He attended Haskell University and USU after graduating from Union High. He worked for many years in the recreation department for the tribe and then became the supply manager. He loved spending time with his family and fly fishing. He was funny, and he gave everyone he met a nickname. He worked as a bartender, a lifeguard, and as president of the Ute Tribe Housing Authority.
    He is survived by his wife, Freda, children, Elaine Colorow, April Colorow, Ashley Groves, Melba Groves, grandchildren, Sarah Gonzales, Lawrence Jenks, III, Ruby Jenks, great-grandchildren, Alyvia Accawanna, Melody Gonzales, Valleno Gonzales,  and siblings, Russell Box, Jr., Ronald Groves, Merlin Cambridge and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Teri Rose Jenks, his siblings, Teri Harold Groves, Christopher Groves, Hubert Jay Groves and Muriel Groves and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Myton Community Building.
    Burial will be in the Myton Cemetery.
