Roddy Mark Montes, age 58, of Whiterocks, passed away January 30, 2023, at his home.
He was born May 17, 1965, in Ogden, to David Edgar and Isabelle Marie Valdez Montes. He married Sylvia Perea and they later separated. He has been with Veronica Wopsock for the last fifteen years.
Roddy worked as an auto mechanic and auto body restoration technician for many years. He also had worked at Motorpool and as a fire fighter for the Ute Indian Tribe. Roddy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boxing - he was a two time Golden Glove. He loved his children and grandchildren and was always making everyone laugh.
Roddy is survived by his companion, Veronica Wopsock, of Whiterocks; children, Rodney Montes, Salt Lake City; Chauncey Montes, Roosevelt; Angelina (Jason) Saint, Tennessee; Tasha Montes, Ogden; Natalie Montes (Landon Shurtleff), Vernal; step-children, Jaycinda Clark (Coleman Yazzie), Roosevelt; LaReena (Cameron) Tahguv, Ballard; Delyle Garcia, Whiterocks; 12 grandchildren; siblings, Lisa UncaSam, Vernal; Thomas Montes, Neola; Anthony Montes; Stephanie (Carl) Christensen; Davie Montes, all of Roosevelt; Marcelino (Esperanza Valdez), Jennifer Montes, both of Neola; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his children, Mike, Joe, MonteRae, Isabelle, & Nina Montes, sister, Vickie Martinez; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building. There will be a wake on Monday also at the community building.
Burial will be in the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery
