Robert Reed

Robert M Reed, age 78, of Myton, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Sr. Villa. He was lovingly known as "Rat Reed."
Robert was born January 18, 1937 in Ft. Duchesne to Ilois BeKenneth "Bud" and Ezilda Margaret "Dot" Van. He married Jeannette Colorow on September 16, 1965 in Duchesne.
Robert helped raise his 9 siblings after his father died in 1953. Robert was proud of his legacy, especially the fact that he was the great-grandson of Jimmy Reed, who was the first white man to have a fixed building (Trading Post) in the territory in 1828 in Whiterocks. He knew a lot about the history of the basin. For many year he loved to go to Rock Creek and Hill Creek where he would fish, hunt and camp. In his younger years he was a bull rider and also participated in the rodeo.
He enjoyed working with cattle, being outside, gardening, fishing, working on his trucks, fly fishing, playing cards, watching old wester movies, and gambling. He loved his family with all of his heart and cherished his grandchildren. He loved to watch sports, especially when his grandkids were playing, some of his favorite teams were Red Skins, the Jazz, and the Utes. He worked as a carpenter and also with cement.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Reed, children, Roberta (Emil) Reed Richards, Barblene (Elijah Shavanaux) Reed, Bobby Louis (Danielle Malone) Reed, Robert Reed, Joann (Danny) Archeletta, siblings, Stuart Reed, Donald (Nancy) Reed, Franklin (JoAnna) Reed, Margaret (Raymond) Wissiup, Cordie Secakuku, Roselda Jones, Bruce (Dixie) Hendricks, 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, children, Gale Reed, Dottie Ann Reed, siblings, Rusty Reed, LaWanna Kay Reed, Carma Colleen Gardner, brothers-in-law, Jay Mountainlion, and Raymond Colorow.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Reed Cemetery. A wake will be held after 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the Ft. Duchesne Gym.
