Rena Josephine Rauzi Prevedel  passed away Friday, July 14, 2023 in Roosevelt, Utah at the age of 100.  She saw many changes in her lifetime, including the mode of transportation changing from horse and buggy to automobiles, the rise of telephones, and computers which she learned how to use to keep track of her grandchildren
She was born in Superior, Wyoming, on September 16, 1922, to Giuseppe (Joseph) and Ester Corazza Rauzi. After her parents emigrated from Austria (now Italy), her father worked in the coal mines of Wyoming and then moved his small family to West Warren, Utah, when Rena was a young child.  Rena was an only child and didn’t learn to speak English until she started first grade in West Warren. She enjoyed school and was a math whiz which helped her later on when she did the family taxes every year until she was 93.
Rena graduated from Weber High School and worked at the Ogden Defense Depot during World War II, prior to becoming a homemaker.  Rena married Aldo Jeno Prevedel in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on May 27, 1944 in Ogden, UT, and settled in Kanesville (now West Haven) UT.
They were members of the Friendly Club and the Utah Tyrolean Trentini Italians and St. Mary’s Parish. Rena enjoyed sewing, gardening and raising beautiful flowers, cooking and always ensuring visitors never left her home without eating something delicious. Her grandchildren were one of her greatest joys and if you had the pleasure of spending time at her kitchen table, you likely heard her relate with pride all that they were accomplishing. She enjoyed hosting dinners for friends and family in her beautiful home, keeping up with her lifelong friends, and tending to her giant vegetable garden. She lived in her house until she was 96 and spent the last few years of her life treated like royalty at Parkside Manor, in Roosevelt Utah.  She created many traditions that will be kept alive by her family, including homemade chocolates, popcorn balls, and ravioli from scratch
Rena and Aldo raised and raced thoroughbred horses for many years in the western states, primarily in Utah, Wyoming, and Arizona. Aldo died September 20, 2006.
Rena and Aldo have 4 children, Dave (Glenna) Prevedel, Hooper, UT; Diane (James) Dembitz, Chandler, AZ; Steve Prevedel, West Haven, UT; Brett (Suzanne) Prevedel, Roosevelt; 7 granddaughters, Nicole, Ashley, Angi, Jamie, Dana, Kaycee, Josie and one grandson, Daniel; 12 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren
Rena joins her parents, husband, and granddaughter Dana in heaven
Her family would like to thank all of those who provided loving care to Rena over the past few years.
Services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM, the Myers Mortuary, 5865 S 1900 W, Roy, UT.  A viewing will be 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM
Interment will follow at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Ogden, UT.
