Raymond Joe Cornpeach, age 56, of Whiterocks, passed away October 11, 2018, at the Intermountain Medical Center.

He was born October 18, 1961, in San Francisco, California, to Merlin Cornpeach and Marilyn Jim. He attended the Stewart Indian Boarding School in Stewart, Nevada, where he participated in boxing and football. He was together with Brucie Lasal Reed. He married Jessica Joan Etchebarren on March 31, 1998, in Ft. Duchesne.

Raymond was a hard worker who had worked at the Ute Enterprise Cattle Farm, Ute Tribe Housing, and then currently took care of all of the maintenance at the Ute Tribe buildings in Whiterocks. He was a Silver Glove Boxer in Stewart, Nevada; coached little league baseball, basketball, and football; and was a guide for elk hunters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the mountains (and would live there if he could), traveling, and attending concerts. He had a great sense of humor, joked with everyone, and had friends everywhere. He was very traditional and participated in and helped with Sundances.

He had a great love of children and they were drawn to him. His family was the world to him and he was their “Knight in Shining Armor.” He was a humble and respected man who was grateful for what he had.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Jessica, of Whiterocks; children Rachel Rae Cornpeach, Whiterocks; Andrew Cornpeach, Hilltop; Tashea Rose Cornpeach, Roosevelt; Nathaniel Jon Cornpeach, Whiterocks; step-son, Evan Lyon, Salt Lake City; grandchildren, G.J., Iraea, & Juan Trujillo; AcyRae Lasal & Remadee Dovy Cornpeach; siblings, Alonzo (Irene) Cornpeach, Lapoint; Pauline Fausett, San Antonio, TX; Conrad Cornpeach, Ft.
