    Ray Thomas Lupold, Jr., age 78, of Vernal, passed away October 26, 2023, at the Ashley Valley Hospital in Vernal, surrounded by family on both sides of the veil
    He was born September 1, 1945, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to Ray Thomas Sr. and Caroline Schatz Lupold. He married Pat Ivie and they later divorced.
    He enlisted in the Air Force for four years and loved serving his country.
    Ray was an extremely hard worker and always kept his hands busy. He learned to be a carpenter from his dad. When he lived in Indiana, he had his own business building residential homes. Later he went to work for CDI where he became a superintendent and did commercial jobs. Even after he retired, he stayed busy helping family and friends with numerous projects, including he addition on the Baptist Church in Duchesne.
   Ray enjoyed traveling, especially road trips. He had a fondness for the outdoors whether he was fishing with grandkids, hunting, or looking for wildlife. Ray was talented in the kitchen and was often found making something, Hello Dollies being his signature treat. He had a deep love for his family, especially the babies.
    Ray is survived by his children Vicena (Alan) Poulson; David (Susan) Lupold, both of Duchesne; 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way; his companion of five years, Debbie Wright, of Vernal; her children, Melissa (Jason) Gross, Jensen; Joshua Keyes, Vernal; seven “bonus grandchildren,” and four “bonus great-grandchildren,” ; siblings, Mary Bibb, California; Doris Wright, Florida; Becky (Wayne) Meade, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.  
    He was preceded in death by a son Eddie Lupold and his parents. 
    Graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Strawberry Cemetery in Duchesne with military honors presented by the Duchesne American Legion, the Patriot Guard Riders, and the Utah Air Force Honor Guard.
