Ray Honwynewa

October 6, 1971 — December 2, 2023

Hotevilla, AZ & Myton, UT

Ray John Honwynewa, Jr., age 52, of Hotevilla, Arizona, formerly of Myton, Utah, died December 2, 2023, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born October 6, 1971, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Ray John Honwynewa, Sr. and Marieanne Conetah.
Ray had worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for the Arizona Department of Transportation.  He then began his work in construction for companies such as Red Feather, and many other jobs helping friends and family.  Ray enjoyed traveling, and hunting for elk, deer, and buffalo.  He took great pride in both his Hopi and Ute cultures, always willing to be there and help.  It was his nature to make sure every detail was taken care of.
Ray had a wonderful sense of humor.  Full of jokes and quick comebacks  – you can hear his laugh!  He was the brother full of support, and the uncle you could always talk and tell anything to.  Ray was proud of his children and grandchildren, and he supported them in everything they did.  Everyone who knew Ray had a story to carry or share.  Wherever he went, he made a huge impact and for that reason he will be dearly missed.
Ray is survived by his children, Adrienne (Yulson) Shorthair; Lindsey Honwynewa; Lauryn Honwynewa; Lelilah Honwynewa; grandchildren, Kylie, Landon, Dani, Charlie; siblings, Rozella Honwynewa (Gale Albert); Delford Cesspooch (Marcy Reed); Raelene (Thorton) Day; Raejeanne Honwynewa; nieces & nephews, Justin, Jayden, Hunter, Tharae, Jennaya, Kira, Reese, Arianna, Hailey, Austin, Reneesa, Darcy, Josita, Casper, Tasha, Dapree, Athena, Alexina, Ranae, Kaylem, Nicolas, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Anita; brother, Fred; parents; and grandparents, Fred & Rosella Conetah; Raymond & Reva Poseyesva.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Myton Cemetery.  There will be a wake on Thursday after 4:00 p.m. at the Amaryllis Conetah-Pinkham Residence in Myton.
