Orven Neil Moon, age 93, of Myton, died on August 31, 2026, at the Uintah Basin Sr. Villa in Roosevelt.
Neil was born on April 16, 1933, in Provo, Utah, to Orven James and Delipha Nye Moon. He married Urma Jean Halsted on August 14, 1952, they were sealed on March 11, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. She died March 21, 2019.
Neil’s first adventure was as a young baby going to a sheep camp in Pigeon Water and living there while his father shepherded. He joined the US Air Force and worked as a wing electrician on bombers. After the service he worked in several industries including: Boeing minute man missiles, electrician, trucking, heavy equipment operations, Upper Stillwater Dam, and in the oil fields.
He is survived by his children, Charolette Bond and Lynn (Destiny) Moon; 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and his sister, Karen Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Urma Moon, and brothers, Clive Moon and Alton Moon.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Myton Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30 - 10:45 AM prior to the service.
Burial in the Duchesne City Cemetery with military honor presented by the Air Force Honor Guard, the Duchesne American Legion, and the Patriot Guard Riders.
