Norma Louise Earl

Our beautiful angel mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, Norma Louise Grant Earl, age 87, returned home to her Heavenly Father and the loving arms of her eternal companion on September 16, 2019, at the Roosevelt Senior Villa.
Mom was born on Sunday, February 21, 1932, in Duchesne, at home, to James Parry Grant and Zella Vilate Holfeltz Grant. She was the 3rd child and first girl in a family of five children. She grew up and graduated from Duchesne High School at the age of 17. When she was in the 3rd grade she was recommended for a double promotion and skipped the 4th grade. Mom was always a tomboy and loved the out of doors, climbing trees and swimming. She loved to go barefoot in the summer and sleigh riding in the winter.    Mom met her eternal companion, Niles Junior Earl in the spring of 1948. They were married on February 27, 1950. Together they built a beautiful home and raised five children in Duchesne. In 1993 they sold their home and moved to Roosevelt where they lived for 10 years before moving to St. George. They loved St. George and lived there for 13 years.
Mom was the most gentle, kind and loving person. Every one of her grandchildren knew they were her favorite. She had unwavering patience and was an amazing example of being a Daughter of God. The love she had for her husband and her family was evident in everything she did, and they always came first. During her teenage years, mom learned to crochet from her grandmama Grant who lived with them. Mom made many beautiful crocheted items and taught her daughters to crochet also. She was an amazing seamstress; she made her daughter’s wedding dresses as well as many a bridesmaid dress. Every married grandchild received one of grandma’s homemade quilts and every grandchild and great grandchild received one of grandma’s homemade baby quilts. Her legacy is recorded in detail through her love of scrapbooking and doing genealogy, as well as in her detailed journals which she spent so much love and time working on. She was an avid bowler. She bowled in a league for many years and proudly wore the gold medal that she won in the Huntsman World Senior Games.
Mom worked for many years at Duchesne County Treasurers office, First Security Bank and Moon Lake Electric. She retired in 1991.
Mom was in Mother’s club for 12 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She taught Sunday school, primary and served in the Relief Society. She and dad worked in the Provo temple for a year and then served in the Vernal Temple for six years. Mom had a strong testimony and lived those principles her entire life. She had so much love for her Savior and taught us all by her example every day.    She is survived by her five children; Grant (Wendy) Earl, Roosevelt; SueAnn Poff, Duchesne; Connie (Kim) Mullins, Duchesne; Lisa (James) Lisonbee, Roosevelt; Eric Earl, Vernal; 24 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren; Also a sister, Carol (LaMar) Thomas, Duchesne.
She was preceded in death by her loving eternal companion of 67 years, 3 grandchildren, April Dawn Mullins, Dalan Niles Earl and Alexis Louise Earl; 1 great-grandchild Braden Thompson and 2 great-great grandchildren Bryce Jade Thompson and Bella May Thompson; as well as her parents and 3 brothers, Duane, Lloyd and James Grant.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Roosevelt 2nd, 11th & Cove 2nd ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, just across from the Roosevelt Senior Villa, beginning at 12:00 noon. There will be a viewing from 10:30-11:45 prior to the services.Interment will be at the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the Villa staff for the love and care they gave to our sweet mother for the past 3 ½ years.
