Ned William “Bill” Stamps, age 82, of Salt Lake City, passed away September 3, 2025, at the University of Utah Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1943, in Madison Mississippi, to Charles and Erma Mills Stamps.
Bill served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 and 1968 and had been stationed in Korea. He received badges for M14 Marksmanship and Pistol Sharpshooting. He also received an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
He married Charlene Crozier on April 29, 2000, in Chicago, Illinois.
Bill will be remembered for his love of golf, his dry sense of humor, and his giving nature. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bill spent many years working in the oil industry. He was the President of the Alaska Alliance, President of the Petroleum Club, and Executive Vice President of Peak Oil Field Services, overseeing a majority of Peak's Alaskan oil field operations. He was instrumental in developing strategic relationships with their Russian partners. He was involved in many community organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Alaska, the Fraternal Order of Freemasonry, and the VFW of Missouri.
Bill is survived by his wife, Charlene Stamps, and daughter, Leona (Wally) Denny, of Missouri; his grandchildren, Jeramie (Krisi) Campbell, of Florida; Shanna Cooper, of Missouri; James (Sarah) Denny, of Missouri; Matthew (Rachel) Denny, of Missouri; Clarissa (Allen) Bozworth, of Missouri; and Barbara (Dwaine) Leach, of Missouri; as well as eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; Charlene’s children, Julie Bargowski and Buck Oberhansly, both of Utah; Charlene's grandchildren, Charlotte and Bryce Bargowski, of Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles CL Stamps and Erma Mills Stamps, his brother, Chuck Stamps, and daughter, Frances (Kathy) Stamps.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Neola Cemetery. Military honors will be presented.
