Myron Accuttoroop

Myron Lamont Accuttoroop, age 80, of Roosevelt, Utah, passed away on August 16, 2026, at the Beehive Home in Naples, Utah.

He was born March 8, 1946, in Fort Duchesne, Utah, to Wesley Accuttoroop Sr. and Sophia Sireech Accuttoroop. Myron was a proud member of the Northern Ute Tribe.

On January 2, 1973, Myron married Sylene Burgi in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They shared 53 years of marriage and a life centered on family, faith, and service.

Throughout his career, Myron was dedicated to serving his tribe and community. He served on the Ute Tribe Business Committee, worked with Tribal Resources, and managed Ute Enterprises. He later worked as a bus driver and as a tutor for the Duchesne and Uintah County School Districts.

Myron was active throughout his life and especially loved basketball, jogging, hunting, and fishing. For his 40th birthday, he celebrated in true Myron fashion by running around Bottle Hollow Reservoir.

His faith was an important part of his life. Myron served a mission for The Church in the Northern Indian Mission and went on to serve in many church callings. He served as branch president of the Randlett Branch, as a High Councilor for 10 years, and as bishop of the Uintah River Ward. He also served as an ordinance worker in the Vernal Utah Temple.

Myron will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his Northern Ute heritage, his faith, and his many years of service to his tribe and community.

Myron is survived by his wife, Sylene, of Roosevelt; children, Tyler (Rachel) Accuttoroop, Tridell; Angela Accuttoroop, Taunilee Accuttoroop, both of Vernal; Misty (Kyle) Farnsworth, Grassy Butte, North Dakota; Nicholas Accuttoroop, Vernal; 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Armond Accuttoroop, Christine (Darrell) Santio, Wesley Accuttoroop, Jr., Helen Walsh, all of Ft. Duchesne; John Wesley Accuttoroop, Salt Lake City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brandon J. Accuttoroop; siblings, Wanda American Horse, Amelia Serawop, Dennis, Chris, Duane, Gary, Corwin, and Karen Accuttoroop.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hayden Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the Hullinger Mortuary on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9-9:45 a.m.
