Melvin Allen

    Melvin Ronald Allen, age 85, of Duchesne, Utah passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the Naples Beehive House from complications of Parkinson Disease and Diabetes.
    He was born on April 20, 1940, to Ron and Ruth Rasmussen Allen. He was one of seven children.  Mel attended school in Draper.  He also played church basketball and graduated high school from Jordan High in Sandy, Utah.  He joined the Air National Guard and was sent to San Antonio, Texas.
    His adventures were many and he was honorably discharged in 1964. In 1959 he married his high school sweetheart Deanna Doyle, they had 3 sons and 2 daughters and later divorced.
    Mel loved trucks in any shape or form from a very early age.  He was a taught a strong work ethic growing up.  He worked at Lofgren’s Manufacturing, supervising the building of Jet Travel Trailers and making deliveries. Mel and his brother Bob taught themselves how to drive a big truck.  Their stories and adventures were plentiful. In January of 1974 they started Allen Bros. Trucking, hauling crude oil.  They celebrated 50 years of  business in January 2024.  They caught on quickly and were never shy about helping others.  
    In 1979 Mel met and married his second sweetheart, Charolette Jones, formerly of Hannah Utah & Lovell, Wyoming.  He gained a son and daughter, and they had a son together.  He taught her to drive a big rig, continued with bookkeeping and learning how to dispatch.
    Mel is survived by his wife Charolette, his children, Lynn Allen, Teresa (Clint) Larsen, Melanie (Travis) Peterson, Bodi (Lona) Allen, Danny (Deanie) Allen, Clay (Melissa) Jones, April Jones and Cole (Nikki) Allen.  Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and his sister Mary Jane (Gene) Beck. Also, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, and all but one of his siblings.
     Graveside services will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2025 at Tabiona City Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. There will be an informal viewing, Tuesday July 1, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hullinger Mortuary in Roosevelt, Utah.
    The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Naples Beehive Home and Canyon Hospice for their care of Mel.
