Melissa Ann Tew Kerksiek, passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 44, on October 3, 2025, at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Melissa was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing.
She was born to her loving parents, Craig Lyle Tew and Bonnie Lynn Goodrich Tew, on June 30, 1981 in Roosevelt, Utah. Melissa was raised in the small community of Bluebell, Utah with her four siblings, who all love her dearly. She learned the value of hard work and being responsible by taking care of her chores on the family farm. She learned to love the gospel at a young age through the nurturing guidance of her parents.Melissa graduated from Altamont High School. She continued her education at the College of Eastern Utah and Southern Utah University, where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.
While attending SUU, Melissa met the love of her life, Jeffery Mac Kerksiek. Jeff and Melissa were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti, Utah Temple on September 6, 2002. Together they had six children, Brian (21), Jason (20), Jeremy (18), Lance (14), Nicole (11), and Brett (8), who were the center of her universe. She loved supporting her children in all their many activities, including church, school, music, and sports. She loved crafting, cooking, and sewing alongside her children. Mom showed her deep love for us by putting our needs before her own. She found joy in being able to use her education to help her children learn and succeed in school and to build their faith in Jesus Christ. She was always there to be our friend and support us in life.
Melissa was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She diligently served in all of her church callings. She blessed the lives of many people by genuinely serving them as she followed our Savior's example.
Melissa willingly spent countless hours helping the family business run smoothly.As she planted flowers and vegetables, her children were close by driving their Tonka trucks. She could also be found working behind the scenes doing essential paperwork. She strived to keep a positive attitude regardless of the situation.
She is survived by her husband Jeff and their six children, her parents Craig and Bonnie Tew, her mother and father-in-law, Sam and Mariam Kerksiek, her four siblings, Sean Tew, Rachel Tew Orr (Ken), Tyrell Tew (JoAnna), and Devin Tew, Jeff's eight siblings and their spouses, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with a viewing before the service from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. A viewing will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 from 6:00-9:00 P.M. All services will be held at the Beaver 1st Ward Chapel 15 N 100 W St, Beaver, UT
