 Marylu Colton, born March 24, 1976, in Roosevelt, Utah, passed peacefully from this life on June 8, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer.
    She graduated from Union High School, where she excelled in music, playing both the trumpet and French horn in the band-something she truly loved. She was also part of the Colton sisters' well-known "dynasty" in volleyball and basketball.
    Marylu attended Dixie State College in St. George, Utah, and later served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chicago, Illinois. She had a deep and abiding love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, who sustained her through many trials. Though her path was not always easy, she tried hard to stay close to Him. A devoted scriptorian, Marylu loved studying the scriptures. She cherished attending LDS Institute and played an important role in helping build the institute program in Roosevelt.
Throughout her life, Marylu worked in Roosevelt, Springville, Moab, and Las Vegas.
    While working as a security guard at Treasure Island Resort, she demonstrated remarkable courage and compassion-saving lives by administering CPR and guiding a man suffering from dementia safely out of a busy street. She also spent a summer working at Red Rock Ranch in Wyoming. During that time, she survived a serious car accident in which her vehicle rolled down a steep embankment. She walked away from the accident and received a priesthood blessing from a man who appeared at the scene-an experience her family remembers as nothing short of miraculous. Marylu also drove a forklift and took pride in her work.
    Marylu loved life and the people in it. She had a gift for connecting with others-she loved meeting people, learning their stories, and making them feel valued. She was a reader who delighted in using funny voices and sharing laughter with those around her. Her sense of humor was unforgettable, from her collection of T-shirts with hilarious sayings to the joy she brought into everyday moments.
    She enjoyed spending time hiking with her siblings and her dad, though her true outdoor love was fishing-something she absolutely loved and did every chance she could. She also loved pop culture, especially Star Wars, with a special fondness for Darth Vader and Yoda. Marylu was a lover of good food-especially sushi-and she found joy in both the simple and the fun moments of life.
    Marylu had a special love for Christmas and found great joy in giving thoughtful gifts to others. She deeply loved her dogs, Stitch and Chewy, who were cherished companions.
    Marylu shared a very special friendship with Lauralie Wales for the past 13 years. Lauralie stood by her through many ups and downs, and her love and friendship are a lasting blessing for which the family will always be deeply grateful.
    As she passed through the veil, we believe Marylu was lovingly welcomed by her grandparents, Flora, Lila, and Larry Colton, and Rose and Glen McAllister.
    She is survived by her best friend, Lauralie Wales; her beloved dog, Chewy; her parents, Lou and Gary; her brothers, Larry (Julie) and Jordan; her sisters, Anne Cambridge (Norm), Laura Davis (Dave), Sarah, and Amy; numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as "Aunt Mare," and her  beloved dog, “Chewy.”
    Marylu will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her unique and wonderful sense of humor, her generosity, her beautiful smile, her deep faith, and the many qualities that made her so special.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt East Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 502 N 600 E Street, Roosevelt, Utah. A viewing will be held that morning from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.  Interment will take place at the Maeser Cemetery.
