    Marvin Solomon, age 88 of Myton, passed away November 14, 2024 at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
     Marvin was born December 26, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Roxey Lavaughn Taylor and Alfred Peter Solomon. He has 4 sisters, Barbra, Diane, Beverly, and Nancy.
     His parents divorced when he was young.  His mother married George Varney and Marvin got a baby brother when he was 19, Larry Varney. He also has a sister Ann from his father and his wife Sarah. They were all born in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family moved a lot after his parents divorced.  
    Marvin’s best friend growing up was Richard Gout. They were still friends up until Richard passed away. Marvin’s friends as an adult were Jack Coats, and  Eric Wagsguard.
    He married Della Calvert on June 2, 1956.  They had eight children, five boys and three girls. Later Della and Marvin were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. The last two children were born in the covenant. Marvin and Della spent 60 years together. Della passed away June 5, 2016
    After Della passed away he married Merlyn Cook. When Marvin was 85, Merlyn passed away on Feb 10, 2024. They spent three and a half years together.
    Marvin was a great deer hunter and a mechanic. He raised rabbits for 55 years.
    Marvin was a hard worker throughout his life. As a young man he shoveled snow and mowed lawns and gave the money to his mother to help raise him and four of his sisters.
    He worked for Mountain Motors, Studebaker Packard for one year. And he worked for Bennett Ford for 3 years. Then he worked for  Kennecott Copper Smelter for thirty-seven years doing a variety of jobs, such as labor pool, equipment mechanic, fork lift & front end loader operator, painter, and tool shop. Marvin would work on cars at home after a full day at Kennecott to take care of his family.
    Marvin served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at  Deseret Industries. Marvin found his five years at the Deseret Industries was very rewarding.
    Marvin, while living in the Granger area with Della and the kids, served as the High Priest quorum leader for several years.
    Marvin is survived by his children, Marvin Solomon Jr., Kay, (Krisann) Solomon,
Cindy, (Danny) King, Lisa Solomon, Troy,(lynn) Solomon, Denny, Susan Solomon, Lalani, (Dirk) Memmott, Shawn, (Kristin) Solomon, 28 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death, by his parents, wife Della, wife Merlyn, sisters, Barbra, Diane, granddaughter Amanda Solomon, great-great granddaughter Olivia.

   Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Myton Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  A viewing will be held from 12:00 - 12:45 PM.  Burial will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 1:15 PM at the Redwood Memorial
Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.  A viewing will be held at their facility from 12:00 - 1:00 PM.
