Mark Clegg Ferguson left this world for paradise into the arms of his loving parents and those who have passed before on April 8, 2026.
He was born into a loving family on August 2, 1957. His parents were Leonard & Maxine Clegg Ferguson.
Mark is our beautiful brother, father, grandfather, and uncle. He is a soft spoken, slow talking, gentle man, but was fiercely protective of his family and loved ones.
He loves His Church, His God and His Savior. He took his mother’s admonition to not use the Lord’s name in vain, even though he used some other very colorful language at times. He has left us with an open window in our hearts that will be filled when we see him again.
He cherished serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the behind-the-scenes callings. He helped with organizing the weekly church cleaning, setting up chairs, and indexing names for the Family Search, receiving awards for his service.
He loved his family and friends and spent time serving them. We were raised in a family of service and looking out for one another, forgiving each other, playing and recreating together, showing up for one another, and above all else loving one another.
He enjoyed sports, especially with the family, including golf, basketball, camping, hunting, and fishing. He always had a small tent and camping equipment in his trunk for an impromptu visit to the mountains.
He is a highly intelligent, organized, full of integrity, and a hard-working man. He took higher education classes to improve his skills and interests. He made his livelihood as a painting contractor, Hammond Construction lead, setting up trailers, a manager of shipping and logistics at Daw Technologies, and helped to close out Toppers’ inventory. He was a leader, a skill that was rewarded by prompt advancement in any employment he obtained.
He helped everyone with their projects from yard work, to pool man, masonry, excavator, painter, carpenter, mechanic, and many other of his life skills. He was meticulous and intentional in all his projects. He liked things organized and clean, such as in using his picker to pick up trash after parties at the “Mullins State Park” (as he coined it). He was also part of the Neighborhood Watch, and used some of his time, almost daily, cleaning up his surroundings at his apartment building. When it snowed, he was there cleaning up the bus stop sidewalk to make it easier for those commuting. He wanted his and others surroundings to be well taken care of and beautiful. He took to heart taking care of our stewardship here on earth.
He loved animals, especially his personal cats. After they passed, he named numerous feral cats feeding them daily.
He enjoyed hummingbirds and would get excited at their return each year. Our father instilled his love of nature into us with all its majesty as well as small intricacies Mark liked interesting rocks and odd shaped pieces of wood. But yet, Mark was also a homebody.
He had a great sense of humor, often brought out by his ability to create descriptive nick-names for anyone.
He is survived by his 5 siblings, Dennis Ferguson, Patrecia Mullins, Rebecca (Murray) Harris, Lori Wilkerson, and Stephen (Jean) Ferguson, many special nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He is also survived by his special chosen family with daughter, Stacy Lynn Douglas, grandchildren, Ason (Breanna) Murphey, Hayli Marie (Graham) Murphey, Mia, and great grandchildren, Payten, Layden, Hayven, and Fisher. They have shared a very special bond.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Maxine Clegg Ferguson, a sister-in-law, Tami Ferguson and brother-in-law, Bobby Dean Mullins.
He is also survived by many wonderful friends and his association with them, especially those from his previous ward. They were his angels and we believe he was theirs also. He loved the once-a-month lunch club. Special mention to those special friends, especially Roger Andrus with whom he spent many hours in service together.
Rest in peace and forever, “Keep smiling.”
