Mark Stephen Deardorff, age 66, of Lapoint, Utah, formerly from Prairie City, Oregon, passed away January 24, 2024, at his home from a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

He was born December 19, 1957, in Goldendale, Washington, to Stephen and Barbara Campbell Deardorff.  After his parents divorced, he lived mostly with his father and his other mother, Dorene.

Mark married Gayleen Marcy and had a daughter, Shantel.  They later divorced.  He married the love of his life,  Delores Jane “Dusty” Clerico, on April 14, 1979, in Lapoint.

Mark worked for over 28 years as a maintenance tech at the Uintah County Western park, where he was a jack of all trades.  He welded, he cleaned, he fixed everything – there was nothing he couldn’t do. He had a happy personality and never met a stranger.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and  traveling all over Utah to State and National Parks.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mark is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dusty, of Lapoint; daughter, Shantel Marcy; grandchildren Luka, Jandrei, & Madison Pitti; great-granddaughter, Monet Amore Pitti; his second mother, Dorene Deardorff; his sisters, Cheryl Lynn Gray, Mary Ellen Silk; some very special aunts and uncles, Vickie & Clifford Reed; Marion Campbell; a cousin who was more like a brother, Levi Reed; a favorite nephew, Caleb Gray; many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friends, John Coombs, Wendall & Penny Black; Tom & Pam Gangler, all of Prairie City, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Western Park Arena, 302 E 200 S, Vernal, UT 84078.  There will be a viewing there from 9:30-10:45 a.m.

Burial will be in the Lapoint Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
