Lynn R. Winterton, age 83, formerly of Ioka, passed away peacefully July 20, 2025, at  his son's home in Upalco, surrounded by love.
He was born on March 17, 1942, in  Provo, Utah, to Ralph Deloy and Elma Mary Winterton.
Lynn grew up in Woodland, Utah, where his lifelong passion for cattle was born. He was  a man of broad talents and remarkable contradictions that made him extraordinary. His  first love was the ranch and working cattle, yet he was also a gifted entertainer who  could captivate any audience.
After faithfully serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in  the Southern States Mission, Lynn's life took a beautiful turn when his brother Dee,  enlisted his help in a local play. It was there, cast as romantic leads, that Lynn started  courting his eternal companion, Carolyn Walker. Their love story began on that stage,  and on November 27, 1963, Lynn married the love of his life and very best friend.
His love for Carolyn was legendary - a devotion that inspired all who witnessed it.  Together, Lynn and Carolyn journeyed across ranches and countrysides from California  to Northern Utah, eventually settling in the gorgeously wild Uintah Basin. When Lynn  realized the ranch alone could not sustain his growing family of five children, he made  the difficult but wise decision to accept the position of General Manager at Moon Lake  Water Users. He adopted a new philosophy that would define his approach to life: the  ranch was not for raising cattle, but for raising children. Under his diligent care and  expert guidance, both his literal and figurative herds thrived.
After nearly thirty years of dedicated service, Lynn retired and chose to serve another  full-time mission, this time with his eternal companion in Salt Lake City. His legacy of  hard work, faith, and love had been firmly established in the hearts of his family and  community.
He is survived by his brother, Seth R.  (Sue) Winterton; sister-in-law, Maureen Placa; daughters, Denean (Stephen) Vreeland,  Delia Johnson, and Danalee (Scott) Madson; sons, Devan Jeoff (Susan) Winterton and  Deloy Rex "Dex" (Sherry) Winterton; fourteen lucky grandchildren; and seven sweet  great-grandchildren.
Lynn was joyfully greeted by his beloved Carolyn in the spirit world. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Deloy and Elma Mary Winterton, his older brother, Dee  R. Winterton and sisters Jeannine and Lanon.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to their "angelic caregiver," Kayley  Tippets, and her dear husband, Jackson, who made Lynn's last months, and especially  his final moments, wonderful and filled with love.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Myton Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  There will be a viewing that morning at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
