Lynn Hackford

Lynn Henry Hackford, age 76, of Roosevelt, passed away February 22, 2015, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.
He was born January 16, 1939, in Ft. Duchesne, to Melvin LeRoy and Eva Fontella Van Hackford, the youngest of ten children.  He grew up in LaPoint where he spent his time riding horses and bulls.  He was known by many as “Cotton” because of his white hair.  As a teen, he spent many summers in California with his older sister, Elda, and her family.  He made many enjoyable memories with them.
Lynn married the love of his life, LeOra Hayes, on May 15, 1959.  They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2009, where they once again exchanged vows of forever lasting love.  Together they raised eight children, three boys and five girls.  They were married very young and had many years of struggles and challenges, but their love for each other and their children, conquered all.
On August 23, 2000, another baby girl, Daisha Hackford, was born and brought into their home and into their lives.  Daisha brought much joy and happiness into their world.  In 2010, Lynn and LeOra adopted two of their great grandsons, Brice and Kyler.  Their love for their family was once again expressed.  They spent two years together caring for and loving the boys until LeOra’s passing in 2012.
Lynn spent the last few years of his life getting to know his oldest son, Dean.  He was so thankful that he had the opportunity to get to know the great man Dean has become.  He became a wonderful addition to the family.
Lynn loved to hunt and spend time in the mountains.  He and his wife spent many years in sheep camps where they raised their five older children.  He loved the openness and solitude of the great outdoors.
Lynn’s greatest passion was his guitar.  His favorite pastime was getting together with his family for “jam sessions.”  Everyone enjoyed listening to his beautiful singing voice.  He sang at hundreds of funerals, including his wife’s.  He will be missed by many but never forgotten.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Lynn is survived by his children: Dean and Anita Barker, West Jordan; Fonda and Roy Ross, Vernal; Jack Hackford, Laury Hackford, both of Roosevelt;  Melinda Hackford, Ballard;  Cindy and Jonathan Collinsworth, Odessa, Texas; Bobbi Dudley, Vernal; Daisha, Brice and Kyler Hackford, Ballard; 30 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, June Murdock, Ft Duchesne; brothers, Dave (Shannon) Hackford, Heber City; Lewis (Cleo) Hackford, Tabiona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife LeOra; parents, Melvin and Fontella; sons, Teddy Hackford, Patrick Hackford; grandsons, Emerson Hackford, Teddy Serawop; brothers and sisters, Dolores Zufelt, Lucille Lopez, Elda Green, Edith Hackford, Bernice Morris, and Lyle “Bish” Hackford.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary.  There will be a viewing at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 1-1:45 p.m.
Burial will be in the Tridell Cemetery.
