Lynn Goodrich Benson, age 89, of Roosevelt, passed away peacefully at her home on March 15, 2025.
She was born on April 14, 1935, in Vernal Utah to Owen & Virginia Kitchen Goodrich.
She had a wonderful childhood growing up in Tridell Utah surrounded by cousins who were also her best friends. She lived in a log cabin, void of running water & electricity, until she was 17! She loved to ride horses & play softball and roam the hills looking for arrowheads. She was an excellent student, developing a love for reading early in life. She was the Valedictorian of her high school graduating class.
Lynn met Bob F. Benson & after a brief engagement hey were married on October 1, 1953 in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After Bob graduated from Pharmacy School, they made their home in Roosevelt, where they raised their family.
Lynn was a life long student of the scriptures & loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She held many callings, Relief Society President, Primary President, Bishop’s wife, but her favorite was teaching the Gospel Doctrine class. She and Bob served a full time mission in Spokane, Washington. In 2001, she was an ordinance worker in the Vernal Temple, serving for many years.
Most importantly she was a devoted & loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister & friend. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by children, Annette (Rick) Lehman, Strasburg, Colorado; Brent (Jennie) Benson, Roosevelt; Jeff (Jennifer) Benson, Hyde Park, Utah; Keith Benson, Roosevelt; grandchildren, Kenneth, Grant, Maren, Cassie, Amy, David, Michael & Lexi; seven great- grandchildren; brothers, Sherell (Lorraine) Goodrich, Vernal; David Goodrich, Salt Lake City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; infant son, Lyle; and a brother, Glen Merrel Goodrich.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Park Ward Chapel in Roosevelt (32 S. State Street). There will be a viewing at the church that morning from 10-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
