Lowell Pratt Roberts, age 90, of Roosevelt, passed away November 23, 2023, at the Uintah Basin Sr. Villa
He was born December 9, 1932, in Leota, Utah, to Louis Dermont and Winifred Louise Dean Roberts.   He grew up in Vernal, Utah, in a big brick home and was the middle of 12 children.  He always loved music.  He sang with a mixed quartet in 5th and 6th grade and took piano and violin lessons starting in the 4th grade.  He also played the clarinet and marched in the 1947 Centennial Pioneer Day Parade in Salt Lake City.  He also loved playing the organ.
He was elected as the FFA president when he was a Junior in high school and was  student body president his Senior year.  After graduation, he was elected as the state FFA president.  He earned the State Farmer’s degree and later the National FFA Farmer’s degree.  He spoke at many FFA conventions around the state.
Lowell was active in sports.  He was on the basketball team all through high school and played football his Junior year.
He married Elaine Manwaring in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 10, 1951.   Lowell said that the most important event in his life was being sealed in the temple to Elaine.  They made their home in Pleasant
Valley, South of Myton, where they raised their family except for a year in Granstville and several years in Jensen.
Lowell was active in the church.  He was a Stake Missionary, Ward Clerk, Seventies Presidency, Elders Quorum President, Sunday School teacher, Bishop, High Councilor, Temple Ordinance Worker and Temple Sealer.  He was a man of great faith and loved serving the Lord, Jesus Christ.
He worked hard all of his life.  He was a rancher.  As well as managing his own sheep and cattle operations, he was also a manager of Deseret Livestock Company and later worked for Meahger Sheep Company until 1974.
Lowell and Elaine moved to Roosevelt in 1981, where he started working for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a janitor and retired in 1997.    He loved his family and did all he could to support them and bring them joy.  He was always there when needed.
Elaine passed away June 20, 2015, which broke his heart.  In 2016, he met and married Vadrus Bodily Wall.  She brought him comfort and joy.   He was very loved and will be greatly missed.
Lowell is survived by his wife Vadrus, of Vernal; children Karl Roberts (Jewelle, divorced), Salt Lake City; Daniel (LaRae) Roberts, Medford, OR; Carol (Bruce) Timothy, Roosevelt; Louis (Michelle) Roberts, Roosevelt; 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; siblings, Edna Bingham and Ruth Petersen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; a son, Vaughn Harold Roberts; grandson, Tyler Roberts; his parents; and 9 siblings, Homer, Florence, Clark, Rhea, Dean, David, Marylu, Wilford, and Joyce.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Roosevelt Central Park Chapel (formerly the Roosevelt 1st and 4th Ward Chapel), 50 South State Street.  There will be a viewing that morning at the church from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
