Our beloved husband, father, and grampa/Papa, Lloyd Dwayne Meacham, age 71, of Ballard, Utah, left this mortal world on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from his home with his wife and family by his side after a long battle with cancer.
He was born August 1, 1953, in Richfield, Utah, to Dwayne and Dorothy Meacham. He married his eternal soul mate, Tammy Davies in 1983 in the Salt Lake City Temple, and together they raised their six children, the most important people in their lives.
Lloyd conquered many health issues the last half of his life, including cancer the last 12 years. After bravely enduring brutal surgery, chemo, and radiation, and being sent home with months to live, Lloyd fought valiantly for his life after discovering holistic medicine.
God granted him his greatest wish, to have more years of life with his family.... giving 12 more years after he left the cancer hospital. He set one benchmark after another, of important family events to live for, until his body could go no more. He wanted his grandkids and grown children to know that he would still be there in spirit with them and in no more pain.
Lloyd had a 25 year career in law enforcement that he dearly loved. He served with the Utah Highway Patrol and then in the Sheriff’s Department. After retirement, he started his own business, Silvercreek Drain Service, where his compassion and big heart for those in need kept him from being wealthy. He always said, “I will never be rich here, I’ll just have to receive my blessings in Heaven.” He enjoyed working with his sons and many adopted work sons until his health disabled him.
This 10 foot tall and bullet-proof hero to so many family and friends left behind his wife, Tammy, of Independence; children, Chris (Shawna) Meacham, Roosevelt; Cory Meacham, Spanish Fork; Cami (Jermiah) Anderson, Vernal; Justin (Tiphanie) Meacham, Independence; Ally Thurman, Roosevelt; Jeff (Zeanna) Meacham, Talmage; 16 grandkids, and 1 great-grand-daughter that will always be the light in his life; a sister, Jane Gurr, Roosevelt; his parents-in-law, Don & Mary Jane Davies, Roosevelt; and many nieces and nephews. He truly knew that families are forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Randy Meacham, Brenda Williams; and a brother-in-law, George Gurr.
A special thanks to the family, friends, and neighbors who have helped Lloyd and our family during this difficult time, including those health care providers: Brent Taylor, Choice Health Clinic; Brad Jenkins, UBMC; Flint Tomlinson, Tomlinson Dental; Canyon Home Health and Hospice Staff, and Lance White, for giving Lloyd such tender care and his dignity.
