Linda Burton Johnson, 83, passed away on October 4, 2026, at her home in Provo, Utah. She was born May 18, 1943, in Roosevelt, Utah, one of ten children born to Ellis and Loretta Burton. Linda graduated from Altamont High School and Brigham Young University. Early in her career, she taught home economics in Vacaville, California before starting her family. Later, she ran an agency called Turning Point, which helped women facing large changes, such as divorce or death of a spouse, find resources and counseling. When she was with her family, she was often stopped by women thanking her for her help and her wisdom. Her work and her teaching changed lives. That same desire to lift others carried into her church service. Linda served quietly and faithfully in many callings throughout her life, including decades as a temple worker in the Provo LDS Temple, and as a senior missionary with her husband, Kent, in the Philippines. For Linda, making things was another way of caring for people. Almost to the end of her life, you could find her in her garden and sharing her flowers with others. She was also an excellent seamstress, a skill she used extensively to reupholster couches, make her children rag dolls and matching dresses, and hundreds of minky blankets for those she thought could use an extra hug. But her greatest joy was her family. Linda married Kent Johnson, the love of her life, on June 25, 1992. She was mother to Bill (Leah), Richard (Nicole), Mary Ann, Ronnie (Rich), Jake (Heather), Dani (David), Angie (Scott), Justin, and Cristi (Adam). She was grandmother to 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, and one granddaughter, Alyssa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the Pleasant View 5th Ward Chapel, 2400 North 1060 East, Provo, Utah. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Hills. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.bergmortuary.com.
