Lexee Adele Winterton, age 18, of Ioka, Utah, passed away on August 28, 2024, in Salt Lake City from injuries sustained in a car crash between Vernal and Roosevelt.
Lexee was born February 15, 2006, in the Orem Community Hospital to Lindzee Jenkins Winterton and Mark W Winterton.
Lexee began life in Pleasant Grove, but her parents soon moved to Ioka, where one of her best friends, her little sister Braydee Ilenna, was born. A few years later, she gained an older sister, Ariane (Marvin Evans), and three older brothers, Danaan Wayman (Analeise), Arius Winterton, and Brennan Winterton, when they joined her family through adoption. Recently, they were also joined by little sister Zoey and baby sister Tessa.
Lexee spent most of her growing up in the Roosevelt area, where she was involved in many activities. She was a natural performer, and we loved it when she shared her talents. She loved singing, especially with her cousins and her dad. She was a beautiful dancer and a talented gymnast. She loved fishing and hunting with her mom. She especially enjoyed traveling to beautiful places and making happy memories of vacationing with her family.
Lexee finished high school early at 16 when she received her GED and immediately began training in Cosmetology in Salt Lake City. She worked towards attaining her degree while simultaneously working to finance her education. She also loved caring for animals and recently started a new job working with her sister Ariane and her stepmom, Jennifer. Recently, when asked about her new job grooming pets, with a smile on her face, she said, “Cutting puppy hair is just like cutting people hair!” She enjoyed using her talents to make people and their pets look beautiful.
From an early age, Lexee was happy and funny, always making us laugh and living life to the fullest. One of the things you would hear Lexee say often was, “Don’t be sad! There’s no time for that.” She cherished beautiful sunsets, sunrises, and the color pink. She had a charitable spirit and desired to bless others, and she did this in so many ways.
When Lexee first applied for a driver’s license, she was adamant about becoming an organ donor. She questioned her mom why she would need her body after she was gone when someone else could benefit from it. This persuaded her mom to also sign up to be an organ donor. Even in death, Lexee’s selfless decision showed charity when she gave everything she could to help many unknown people.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters, her parents and stepmothers, Jennifer Hunt Winterton and Carli Doerr, her Grandparents, Jana and Danny Jenkins, and her Grandma Bobbi Wayman Winterton, along with her many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who were her very best friends.
We take comfort in the belief that she was met on the other side and went into the loving arms of those who love her: Great Grandma Adele Lamb Shields, for whom she was named; her Great Grandpa Joe Shields; Great Grandparents Junior and Rola Jenkins; her Grandad Don W Winterton; and Great Grandparents Van and Nida Winterton, and Max and Jeri Wayman, along with many others. We look forward to seeing Lexee again, strong and smiling, singing and enjoying all the blessings our Father in Heaven and our Savior, Jesus Christ, want to bless us with. Until we meet again, we love you, our angel, Lexee Adele.
