September 12, 1928 — March 2, 2015

Leonal Fenn

Leonal R. Fenn was born on September 12, 1928 in Cedarview, Utah to George and Susan Bell Labrum Fenn.  He died on March 2, 2015 of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Leonal joined the Navy at 14, but was caught by a buddy’s mom who told them how old the boys really were, so he had to wait until he was 16 to actually join.  He was stationed on the USS Dixie, an oiler-tender.  As part of his duties, he had to go to the Bikini Islands where the U.S. was to test the bomb.  He was there during the testing and told many stories of the aftermath.
When he returned stateside, he moved to Canada where he met and married Marjorie Ruth Silk.  They later moved around the country a lot while Leonal worked on a seismograph crew.
They had four children and finally settled in Roosevelt in 1963. They later had another son in 1968.  Fenn was a water well driller, although he did spend a few years running a rock crusher for Uintah Basin Concrete.  He later bought Uintah Basin Drilling Company where he continued drilling water wells with his son Allen.  He was highly regarded as an expert by the State water board and his customers.  He was known for being honest and fair.
Marjorie passed away in September 2005, and he later married Betty Christianson.
His life was all about family; supporting family, helping family, being with family, and loving family. We were his life.
He is survived by wife, Betty, daughters, Janet (Mike) Row, and Shirley Fenn, all of Roosevelt; son, Richard (Michelle) Fenn, Ballwin, MO; daughter-in-law, Phyllis (Ross) Young, Myton; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren with one on the way, and 1 great great grandchild, with one on the way. He is also survived by brothers, Myrlin (Marva) Fenn, Bountiful; Glenn (Sheila) Fenn, Mountain Home; sister, Myrna Spaulding, Vernal; sister-in-law, Marion Fenn, SLC;  and many nieces and nephews.
Leonal was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie, sons Allen and Robert Fenn, brothers Norman and Therlow Fenn, sisters Marvella Olsen and Myrth Roberts.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Roosevelt East Stake Center.  Viewings will be held on Friday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6 - 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial in the Cedarview Cemetery with military honors presented by the Roosevelt American Legion and the Utah National Guard.
