Leon Nielsen

Jerry Leon Nielsen, age 69, of Myton, passed away February 26, 2016, at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
He was born December 13, 1946, in Heber City, to Marvin Eyner and Dorothy Stanley Nielsen. He married Joy Levett Thompson and in 1997 their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They later divorced. He married Sarah DeAnn Braithwaite on December 31, 2000, in Myton.
Leon loved his cows and Indian Canyon. He enjoyed racing horses, watching the Utah Jazz, and tinkering. He taught his kids how to work, be organized and how to tell stories! His grandkids were the love of his life and he spoiled them rotten. He had a great fondness for his cats and his fish.
Leon is survived by his wife, DeAnn Nielsen, Myton; children, Lynn (Judy) Nielsen, Fruitland; Jody (Melissa) Nielsen, Jennifer (Joe) Madsen, both of Duchesne; Jeffery (Angela) Nielsen, Murray; step-children, Jathan (Amber) Beltran, Pleasant Valley; ShaeLeah Beltran, Myton; Cordero Beltran, Roosevelt; Asencion Einerson, Myton; 25 grandchildren with one on the way, 9 great-grandchildren; a nephew that he raised, Andy Nielsen, Myton; brothers and sisters, Jean Landers, Fruita, CO; Janet (Donald) Heed; Randy (Connie) Nielsen; Rodney (Bonnie) Nielsen, all of Duchesne; Timmy (Terri) Nielsen, Indian Canyon; and his cats, "Puss" and "Boots."
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy; parents, Marvin and Dorothy; a brother, Norvel Nielsen, and a granddaughter, Nichole Cummings.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Duchesne LDS Stake Center with a viewing one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in the Duchesne City Cemetery under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
