Surrounded by his loving family, Odis Leon Fillingim, age 87, of Myton, had his graduation day on December 5, 2025.
He was born in Vernal, Utah, on May 21, 1938, to Odis Lee and Oral Marie Hunting Fillingim and was raised by his mom and stepfather, William Marten Hansen.
Just a few hours after birth, his mother had him on a horse, so she could go and check the cows. She would tuck him under a cedar tree while pulling calves. That started his love for horses and the great outdoors. At 12 years old he had respect from grown men because he was not afraid to put in a hard days work in the field.  One of those men being his future father-in-law.
Betty Claudine Potter was his sweetheart and they married on November 14, 1958, and were sealed on April 21, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died January 3, 2018.
Leon worked for the US Forest Service for 7 years and then went to work for the Duchesne County Road Department. He was the supervisor of the road department before he retired after 30 years of service.
He liked to stay busy so he would have side jobs shoeing horses and shearing sheep. He enjoyed working with horses, going on wagon trips, and packing into the Uintas, hunting, fishing, and raising his boys.
Betty and he had five mischievous boys, what one didn’t think of the other one did.  He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren various crafts. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various callings.  He was involved with the Scouting program and helped a lot of boys achieve Eagle Scout. He loved the Lord and was a very spiritual man.
After Betty passed away God blessed him and brought another wonderful woman into his life.  Bonnie was a blessing to him, they enjoyed fishing and spending time together.
We will miss him very much and we will love you always dad, grandpa.
Leon is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Myton; his children, Don Lynn (Melanie), Pinedale, AZ; David Leon (Sheila), Cedarview; Doug Matthew (Sammi), Myton; Dale John (Rajette), Lindon AZ; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brother, Jim Fillingim.
He was preceded in death by this wife, Betty, son, Dan Neal, his parents, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Myton Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with viewings held on Friday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and Saturday at the church from 10:00 - 10:45 AM.
