Leola Olsen peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the age of 92.
She was born in Duchesne, Utah on December 20, 1929, to John Orvel and Lois Thompson. She was the 4th of 10 children.
Leola was very active in her years of growing up, and in school, she played on the girls basketball team, was drum majorette, and was elected as Duchesne County Rodeo Queen in 1947.
She married Earl Colton at the age of 18, and together, they had 4 daughters. Sherrie, Alice, Julie, and Meladie. They later divorced, and then she married the love of her life, Fayne Olsen. Together, they had their son, Gayln, which made their family complete.
Leola is survived by her children: Sherrie (John) Brown, Alice Congrove, Julie (Mike) Webster, Meladie (Tom) Sundloff, and Gayln Olsen; 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, & 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Leola was preceded in death by her husband, Fayne Olsen; parents, John & Lois Thompson; 9 siblings; son-in-law, Dennis Congrove; grandchildren, Angelina Miller, James & Damon Smith, and great-grandchild, Annalee Owen.
We would like to express our gratitude to Alta Ridge Senior Living where they were exceptional in the care of our mother, and loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 12:00 Noon, at the Duchesne 1st and 3rd Ward Chapel (103 S 300 E). A viewing will be that morning from 11:00-11:45 AM at the church.
Burial in the Strawberry Cemetery.
