Leland J “Hap” Stoddard, age 65, of Duchesne, passed away June 10, 2026, at his home from heart failure.
Born on New Year’s day in 1961, he was given the nickname, “Hap,” from everyone shouting, “Happy New Year!” He was born to Melton and Rhea Pickup Stoddard in Salt Lake City, Utah. He spent the summers of his early years on his grandparents’ farm in Randlett.
He had been together with the love of his life, Susan Gail Reno, for over sixteen years and they were married on May 5, 2026, in Duchesne.
Hap had been in the roofing business for the majority of his life. He enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, camping, and riding his Harley motorcycle. He was kind, helping anyone in need, and loved to make people laugh.
Hap is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Brandon Stoddard, Rodney Wozab; step-children, Tawnya Hymas, Boe Sweazey; several grandchildren; a brother, Marv (Kathleen) Stoddard; Julie Cagle, Centerville; many nieces & nephews, and his beloved dog, “Maverick.”
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shantae Stoddard, a grandson, Devin Montoya, and his parents.
Leland was cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at The Marina at Starvation Reservoir in Duchesne, Utah.
