Larry S. Ross, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home February 4, 2023. Not the end, but the next step for him in Heavenly Father’s Plan.
Larry was born December 4, 1937 in Arcadia, Utah to Marion and Gladys Ross. He was the fifth of seven children. He married Connie Rae Stevens on June 27, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having a family of eight children..
A patriot, Larry loved America and its liberties and virtues. A stirring rendition of the National Anthem always moved him. He also loved a thunderous jet flying just overhead, a stunning vista, an athletic play in sports, a smile from Connie, and most of all, watching his family grow and experience joy and happiness in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
As a growing child on the farm, Larry was asked to work hard and soon was doing a man’s day’s work by the time he was a teenager. This work ethic spilled over to his children where working hard became the norm.
He attended school at Myton Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High School, Union High School where he was student body president and captain of the football and basketball teams, and a brief stint at Utah State University.
Soon after high school, Larry married his high school sweetheart, Connie and they settled down in Pleasant Valley, Utah to begin a farm and family of their own, being the parents of eight children. Other jobs such as truck driver, ditch rider, real estate agent, and business owner also helped finance a prosperous living.
A leader among men, Larry served in many positions in the church—bishop, stake president, and stake patriarch, just to name a few. He also served as a missionary in 2007-08 with his wife, Connie, in the Tennessee, Nashville Mission.
Public service was also a high priority and Larry accepted positions of sitting on several local boards including the board of the Uintah Basin Telephone Association and the Utah Water Conservancy District. He was elected a Duchesne County Commissioner for a time period of seventeen total years.
Larry is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Connie Rae, children, Steven (Jeanna) Ross, Greg (Lisa) Ross, Michele (Rick) Schroedter, Mike (Cachelle) Ross, Richard (Kathy) Ross, Troy (Shauna) Ross, Ryan (Brenda) Ross, and Jared (Kadee) Ross; thirty-eight grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren; brothers, Leon (Janet) Ross and Lanny (Kathy) Ross, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alan Dale Ross, Loryn Ross, Orlene White, Shirley Ernest; and grandson, Garrett Schroedter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Roosevelt 2nd Ward Chapel.  Friends and family are invited to attend viewings on Friday evening at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 10:00-10:45 am,
