Larry Wells Rasmussen, age 79, of Duchesne, Utah, passed away August 8, 2026 after a long battle with multiple illnesses. He was surrounded by loved ones as he left this world.

Larry was born on August 28, 1946, in Roosevelt, to Wells and Eileen Cluff Rasmussen. He was the oldest of three boys. Larry and his brothers, Blake and Lynn, were well-known troublemakers with the best intentions. They grew up on a beautiful ranch in Arcadia. Larry attended Roosevelt High school and was often known to go in the front door and right out the back door. Later, he attended a trade school and became a skilled electrician. Even though he was an electrician, he was known to be a "Jack-of-all- trades" and was able to figure out and fix any problem there was. This earned him the nickname "MacGuyver".

Larry met the love of his life, Carol Christensen Rasmussen, in 1965, and were married later that year. Larry joined the Army just after meeting Carol in September of 1965. After basic training, Larry came home for a visit and married Carol on November 20, 1965, and they have been married just shy of 61 years. He was sent to Vietnam in 1966 and served honorably there for a year. He was very proud of his time in the military.

Larry and Carol welcomed their oldest child, (Paul) Dee Rasmussen on March 20, 1968 in a military hospital in Fort Lewis, Washington. Four years later they welcomed their second son (Larry) Dwayne Rasmussen on October 30, 1972. Many years later they were surprised with their only daughter, Megan Leah Rasmussen on March 14, 1984. They lost their oldest son far too early from a sudden illness on September 27, 2021. There was a glorious reunion in heaven when Larry was reunited with Dee.

Larry is survived by his wife, Carol, of Duchesne; children, Dwayne (Mele) Rasmussen, Fruitland; Megan Rasmussen, California; 9 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Wells Rasmussen and Eileen (Rasmussen) Merkley; son, (Paul) Dee Rasmussen; brother, Blake Rasmussen; and aunts, and uncles.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Duchesne Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10:00- 10:45 AM.

Burial will be in the Talmage Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the American Legion, Patriot Guard Riders, and the Utah Army Honor Guard.

The family would like to thank the Canyon Home Health and Hospice team, especially his wonderful nurse, Nadine.
