Larry Dennis Murray, age 71, of Lapoint, passed away July 31, 2015, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
He was born July 27, 1944, in Roosevelt, to Julius Orran and Mary May LaRose Murray. He married Sandra Brown Natchees and they later divorced. He married Gardenia McKewan and they later divorced.
Larry was a rancher all his life and worked numerous jobs with the Ute Indian Tribe. In his younger years he enjoyed watching and racing Quarter horses throughout Wyoming, Utah, Montana and Idaho. Larry participated in Chariot races, Derby races which he enjoyed doing with his brothers Raymond, Chunky and Jimmie. He was President of the Rocky Mountain Indian Rodeo Association. He was an avid hunter and loved fishing with family and friends. He enjoyed spending his free time in Wendover, Nevada. His hobbies were prospecting, restoring cars, watching Three Stooges, collecting coins, and reading western books
Larry is survived by his children, Leroy Murray, Randlett; Debra M. (Jason) Jones, Hilltop; Deanna Hutchins, Gayla Murray, both of Murrayville; Garrett (Sunnie) Murray, Roosevelt; Martha Murray, North Yellowstone; 28 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Tabet, Murrayville; Bonnie Murray Van, Ft. Duchesne; Rose Murray Murdock, LaPoint; brother, James Murray, Murrayville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Todd Rory Murray; foster daughter, Jennifer Cantsee; parents, Julius and Mary May; brothers and sisters, Franklin Dee Murray, Jackie Murray, Constance Eli Murray Eaton; and Julius Rex "Chunkie" Murray, Raymond Murray.
Funeral services will be held at10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the LaPoint LDS Chapel. He will be taken to his home for a wake at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. There will be a a viewing at the church on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery.
